Swimming & Paddle Boarding has now launched!

During the winter of 2024 we drained Dragon lake completely down, removed all of the fish and any underwater obstacles, gave it a tidy up and refilled it ready to be used as our activity lake!

Dragon lake, which is now used for open water swimming & paddle boarding (coming soon) is a beautiful lake with excellent water quality. The lake is 1.25 acres and 200m (4 lengths of an olympic size swimming pool) to swim around in a full loop and on average 4-6ft deep.

The lake is lined with clay which is found across the whole complex. Dragon lake does have a natural dye added to the water, this is to prevent weed blooms.

We have created a platform with swimming pool steps so it is nice and accessible. Next to the steps is a cantilever parasol with some hooks to hang your robe’s and towels along with a bench so you or your guest has some lakeside seating.

There is a changing room (no shower) inside the cafe building which is no further then 20metres away from the lake. Parking is alongside the lake, you can almost step out of your car straight into the lake.

Swimming sessions are currently available Thursday-Sunday, 1hr sessions starting at 8am - 6pm. Please note the cafe is open 9am-1pm so the use of the changing room can only be used during the cafe open times.

We have a portaloo on site which may be used anytime, this is cleaned daily.

All swimming/paddle boarding sessions MUST be booked online via the website, please make sure you read the terms & conditions, you enter the water at your own risk.

Rules

No children under the age of 12 are allowed to swim. All Junior swimmers (aged 12 -18) must be closely supervised by an adult – which means an adult must be swimming with them.

All swimmers are advised to wear a wetsuit for warmth and buoyancy. This is not mandatory but we strongly advise the use of one!

Swimmers are advised to wear a brightly coloured swimming hat.

Do not run, shout, wave or blow whistles unless there is an emergency.

Do not jump or dive into the lake.

Bookings for open water sessions are strictly for that purpose. Anyone found to be booking sessions to use the lake or the banks for anything else, e.g. sunbathing, picnics etc, will be asked to leave without a refund.

Do not swim outside of the session times.

Do not take dogs into the water with you unless it is a dedicated ‘swim with your dog session’ or leave them unattended. Please keep dog’s on a lead and tidy up after them.

To make swims comfortable for everyone, we advise any invited friends/family to occupy the onsite cafe and outside seating areas. The lake and it’s immediate surroundings are strictly for swimmers and a spotter if needed.

We reserve the right to cancel swimming sessions, at any time, if you have broken any of the rules, acted in a way we deem unsafe to you or others. We may also cancel sessions if the weather makes swimming unsafe or in an event where the water quality was compromised.
